A Joint Venture composed by IRD Engineering, Dongsung Engineering and Rhythm Plus has just signed a new contract with the Republican Road Fund under the Committee for Roads of Uzbekistan.

The project, financed by the Asian Development Bank, aims at the provision of Project Management and Works Supervision services during the reconstruction and upgrade of a 240 km 2-lane cement concrete pavement section of the A-380 “Guzar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beyneu” road.

The A-380 is part of CAREC Corridor 2 and it has a total length of 1,204 km, forming part of the East-West Transport Corridor, which allows an efficient integration into the international transport system along the north and north-west, towards Europe and the ports of the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea.

For 50 months (including a 24 months defects notification period), a team of international and local engineers from the partner companies will review the detailed designs, will supervise all works under the construction contracts, will certify works in terms of their quality and quantity, and will perform all kinds of project management activities. Works are organised in 6 lots to be executed under FIDIC Conditions of Contract MDB Harmonized Edition, June 2010 (“Pink Book”).

With this breakthrough in Uzbekistan, IRD Engineering is currently providing Project Management and Works Supervision services for the rehabilitation or construction of roads and highways in 17 countries.
