We’re proud to announce that a joint venture between IRD Engineering and HYDROPHIL GmbH has been awarded a new contract to provide supervision services for a transformative infrastructure project in the Municipality of Kolašin, Montenegro.
Supported by the WBIF – Western Balkans Investment Framework, and financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB), the initiative includes:
- Construction of a new wastewater treatment plant;
- Development of a 23 km sewerage network;
- Implementation of priority water supply measures.
This project is part of a broader national effort encompassing 63 environmental infrastructure initiatives totalling approximately €483 million. Among them, the Kolašin project stands out as a flagship investment, contributing significantly to Montenegro’s EU accession goals and promoting sustainable socio-economic development.
Kolašin, nestled over 3,000 feet above sea level near the Tara River, is a picturesque town known for its rich history, vibrant culture, and outdoor activities, from skiing and hiking to family-friendly adventures. Just 70 km from Podgorica, it is a gem in Montenegro’s northern region.
The contract signing ceremony was attended by:
- Mr. Damjan Ćulafić, Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development;
- Mr. Petko Bakić, President of the Municipality of Kolašin;
- Mr. Novo (Džaja) Konjević, CEO of DOO “Project – Consulting” – Podgorica (PROCON),
- Delegates from the Ministry of European Affairs, and
- Representatives from IRD Engineering.
