IRD Engineering is pleased to report solid progress on one of Romania’s most strategic transport infrastructure projects: “Execution of Works for the Focșani – Bacău Motorway, Lot 3, Răcăciuni – Bacău (km 74+380 – km 95+902.35)”, developed in association with the Contractor Joint Venture: S.C. SPEDITION UMB S.R.L. – S.C. SA&PE CONSTRUCT S.R.L. – S.C. TEHNOSTRADE S.R.L.
This motorway segment plays a vital role in improving road connectivity in the Moldavia region and enhancing Romania’s national transport network.
As of the end of June 2025, physical progress has reached 32.01%, with a strong mobilization of equipment, technical resources, and workforce. The current pace reflects the joint determination of all project stakeholders to recover time and reach the contractual milestones.
Significant road works are underway, including embankment construction, base and binder layers, and ground stabilization using geotextiles and geogrids. Concrete monolithic ditches have also been installed to optimize drainage systems.
Structural works (bridges and overpasses) are progressing steadily across the lot. Numerous work fronts have completed foundation slabs, elevations, and waterproofing. Visible progress can be seen on bridges over valleys, canals, local roads, and on key structural elements of the Bacău interchange.
Meanwhile, works related to the ITS system have started — including trenching and laying of HDPE pipes and manholes. Though some categories of work, such as hydraulic systems, safety installations, and lighting, are still in preparation, all technical prerequisites are in place for their implementation in upcoming phases.
IRD Engineering remains committed to ensuring quality, safety, and efficient supervision as the project advances toward completion.
