Numerous stakeholders from Albania have gathered this morning during a workshop that aimed to discuss and agree on the methodology to be used for the preparation of a new national Road Safety Strategy.
On the occasion, members from Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the Albanian Road Authority, the Traffic Police Directorate, the General Directorate of Road Transport Services, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, as well as other relevant institutions, had the opportunity to get acquainted with the first draft of a comprehensive methodology for planning road safety interventions, for monitoring and evaluating results, for the assessment of shortcomings, and for the identification of necessary improvements.
Moreover, the event sought the involvement of all key road safety stakeholders in an assessment of their respective fields of responsibility within the national road safety system, working in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization Global Plan of Action.
This activity has been organized in the context of the project “Support for Road Sector Reform and Road Safety Strategy”, funded by the European Union under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance, managed by the Delegation of the European Union to Albania, and being implemented by a Consortium led by IRD Engineering, with SUEZ Consulting and DRI upravljanje investicij, Družba za razvoj infrastrukture, d. o. o. as partners.
