The A7 motorway (in Romanian Autostrada A7), also known as the Ploiești – Siret Motorway or the Moldavia Motorway, is a partially built motorway in Romania, which upon completion will link Ploiești to the north-eastern part of the country, partly along the Pan-European Corridor IX. It will run along the route Buzău, Focșani, Bacău, Roman, Pașcani, and Suceava, connecting to Ukraine’s M19 Highway near Siret.

The total value of this strategic infrastructure project amounts to 6.7 billion euro, of which 2 billion euro will be funded through the EU-promoted Recovery and Resilience Plan. The balance will be provided through state financing, with a 600-million-euro European Investment Bank (EIB)-funded loan intended to partially cover the disbursement of state funds.

In this context, IRD Engineering has recently signed 3 new contacts with the Romanian National Road Infrastructure Company – C.N.A.I.R. S.A. for the provision of engineering services during the construction of Lots 1, 2 and 3 of the Focșani – Bacău section of the A7 Motorway, namely:

• Lot 1 Focșani – Domnești Târg, km 0+000 – km 35+600, with a length of 35.60 km;
• Lot 2 Domnești Târg – Răcăciuni, km 35+600 – km 74+380, with a length of 38.78 km;
• Lot 3 Răcăciuni – Bacău, km 74+380 – km 95+902, with a length of 21.52 km.

The overall 95,9 km of new highway includes 5 road junctions, 84 bridges, 7 passages, 6 service spaces, 4 parking lots and 3 Maintenance and Coordination Centers.

91 bridges and overpasses will be built along the route of the entire Focşani – Bacău highway section: on Lot 1 – 32 bridges/passages, with a total length of 4,910 meters; on Lot 2 – 35 bridges/passages, in total length of 3,692 meters; on Lot 3 – 24 bridges/passages, in total length of 3,581 meters.

The overall project is expected to be completed in 2025.
