Students of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy of Banja Luka visiting major construction sites on Corridor Vc in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Senior students from the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Banja Luka recently visited various construction sites on Corridor Vc, including the bridge over the Bosna river near Kostajnica and the tunnel “Putnikovo Brdo 1” (1,595 m long), being part of the Doboj bypass construction project supervised by IRD Engineering, a project financed by the EBRD and implemented in line with Yellow Book FIDIC Conditions of Contract.´

The delegation was accompanied by Mladen Glamocanin, Deputy Team Leader on behalf of the company, as well as by Aleksandar Djuras and Mirjana Marcetić, representatives from the Employer, the public company “Autoputevi RS”, and also by engineers from the works contractor Integral inženjering.

The Trans-European Corridor Vc represents the main north-south transport route for Bosnia and Herzegovina. It connects Budapest (Hungary) with the Adriatic port of Ploče (Croatia).

The total length of the Corridor Vc within Bosnia and Herzegovina is approximately 335 km and this particular project is located in the northern part of the country, being part of the planned 46.6 km long section through the administrative entity of Republika Srpska.

The students had the opportunity to become familiar with the project scope and gained first-hand experience on how a major and highly-complex internationally-funded construction project involving various kinds of expertise is organized and run.

This visit enables the rare but necessary connection between the theory and daily construction practice and gives valuable insight into how capital investments are conducted using latest technologies and state-of-the-art construction tools and practices.
