It was back in 2019 when a Joint Venture led by IRD Engineering resulted awarded with a new contract financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and aimed at the provision of supervision services during the reconstruction and upgrade of three sections part of the main road network in Montenegro.
Now, after two years of intense work, the first of these sections, the Podgorica – Danilovgrad (M-18), was finally opened to traffic, during a ceremony that was attended by the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Mr. Dritan Abazović, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Capital Investments, Mr. Ervin Ibrahimović, and the Director of the Transport Administration, Mr. Radomir Vuksanović.
The reconstruction of the M-18 Danilovgrad-Podgorica main road (15.1 km-long), consisted of its upgrade into a dual carriageway with the construction of an additional lane in each direction, with a central reserve (4m wide) with barriers between carriageways. Works also included the construction of 3 bridges, 7 roundabouts and intersections, retaining walls and supporting structures, road lighting, and drainage systems.
