IRD Engineering has recently started providing services for the development of the Strategic Comprehensive Transport Development Plan 2030 for Addis Ababa City, the capital of Ethiopia, with a population of over 4 million inhabitants.

The assignment, funded by the World Bank, is part of the Transport Systems Improvement Project that is being promoted by the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority. It aims at assessing the existing and future transport conditions, setting transport goals for the city, reviewing the transport network and land use, and identifying the necessary policy and infrastructure interventions.

This study will address all aspects of Addis Ababa’s transport system, including transport governance, road development, and public transport. It will also analyse the potential integration of different modes of transport, promoting sustainable transport systems, and improving traffic safety.

The project is led by Ramboll Denmark A/S and will last for 24 months.
