A joint venture composed by IRD Engineering and GMC Consulting, with the participation of AMEC as subcontractor, have recently signed a new contract with Avtoyo’linvest Agency under the Committee for Roads of Uzbekistan, aimed at the provision of FIDIC supervision services during the rehabilitation of 26 road sections with a total length of 202 kilometres within the Tashkent region. The project is funded by the World Bank within the loan agreement “Development of Regional Roads of Local Significance”.

The overall objective of the consultancy services is to ensure that high quality construction is achieved and that all works are carried out in full compliance with the engineering design, the technical specifications described in the civil works contracts, and that all efforts are deployed by the contractors to complete the construction within the agreed total price and time schedule.

The specific objectives of the assignment are to:

  1. Review the design and the tender documentation for all works contracts;
  2. Assist Avtoyo’linvest Agency in administering the contracts and to supervise the construction works to ensure their quality and timely completion;
  3. Ensure that all environmental and social safeguards are properly observed.

Thanks to this new contract, a team of engineers and other specialists from the partner companies will carry out the duties of “The Engineer” according to the MDB Harmonized Edition (version 2010) rules and principles of the “International Federation of Consulting Engineers” (FIDIC), including the management of any variations and claims occurring during the implementation.

At present, IRD Engineering is implementing 3 IFI-funded consulting and engineering contracts in Uzbekistan, a country where we specially enjoy working.
