The A3 is a partially-built motorway in Romania, connecting its capital city Bucharest with the Transylvania region and the north-western part of the country. Once completed, it will be 596 km-long and will run along the route Ploiești, Brașov, Făgăraș, Sighișoara, Târgu Mureș, Cluj-Napoca, Zalău and Oradea, connecting with Hungary’s M4 motorway.

In this context, IRD Engineering has recently been awarded its first service contract for the Compania Nationala de Administrare a Infrastructurii Rutiere (CNAIR), aimed at the supervision of the design and construction of one of the last missing sections: the 2A3 Lot, Chețani — Câmpia Turzii (km 21+500 to km 37+191), which is part of the Trans-European Transport (TEN-T) Comprehensive Network.

Thanks to this important contract, a team of local engineers from IRD Engineering will provide full supervision services for the design and build of 15.7 km of roads, one double trumpet interchange, 9 bridges and passageways and one maintenance and coordination center. The supervision contract will be implemented in accordance with the Romanian legislation in force.

IRD Engineering operates in Romania through a newly-established branch office in Bucharest. We feel very enthusiastic to start our activities in the country, the eighth-largest in the European Union, and a place where still lots needs to be done in the field of transport infrastructure. We will certainly aim at making our contribution.
