Last March 2018, IRD Engineering kicked off the implementation of the contract “Supervision of Rehabilitation Works including Environmental and Social Safeguard Monitoring under the Road Rehabilitation and Safety Program (RRSP)” in the Republic of Serbia.

The assignment originally envisaged the provision of consultancy services to “Roads of Serbia”, including on the environmental and social safeguards monitoring, during the rehabilitation of 31 road sections all over the country, with a total length of 670 km.

The implementation period for these Services was initially planned for the period of 2018-2021 but the parties have recently signed an extension for an additional 24 months, until December 2023.

RRSP is a joint facility from the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the World Bank (WB). It is financed by three loan agreements totaling EUR 274 million, being aimed at supporting the rehabilitation and safety improvements of about 1,100 km of roads across the Serbian national road network.

RRSP promotes regional and national economic growth, facilitating trade, supporting private sector development, and, ultimately, contributing to the economic and social cohesion in the country.

The main objective of the signed addendum is to assist “Roads of Serbia” through the provision of all kinds of technical expertise and contract management activities, with special attention to environmental and safeguard monitoring and to the mitigation of any observed negative impacts.
