The development of Corridor Vc is a strategic priority for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Once completed, the motorway will cross the country from the port of Ploce in the south to the border with Croatia in the north.

As part of this program, in 2019 IRD Engineering signed a contract with the Public Company Motorways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ltd Mostar aimed at the construction supervision of the double-tubed Ivan Tunnel. The length of the right tunnel tube, including the portal building, is 1,721 m, while the left tunnel tube is 1,761 m long. The design speed is 120 km/h for open road and 100 km/h in the tunnel.

Finally, last 6th October 2021, about three weeks before schedule, the right tube was breakthrough-ed, and the event was widely covered by local media.

Works have been uninterruptedly ongoing 24 hours a day, in three shifts, with an average daily progress in pipe penetration 3.5 meters and a total of 330,000 cubic meters of excavated material in a very challenging and complex geological structure.

From IRD Engineering we would like to thank and to congratulate all the involved parties: Our team, our partner company PPG, Euro-Asfalt, and all the involved staff of the Employer, Autoceste,
