The World Food Programme (WFP) is the food-assistance branch of the United Nations. It is the world’s largest humanitarian organization focused on hunger and food security. Founded in 1961, it is headquartered in Rome and has offices in 80 countries. In addition to emergency food relief, WFP offers technical assistance and development aid, such as building capacity for emergency preparedness and response, managing supply chains and logistics, promoting social safety programs, and strengthening resilience against climate change. The WFP was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020 for its efforts to provide food assistance in areas of conflict.

IRD Engineering has recently signed a Long-Term Agreement (initially for 3 years) for the provision of multi-disciplinary engineering design services worldwide and in relation to a broad range of infrastructure and construction projects, to the benefit of the WFP and other UN agencies.

Thanks to this Agreement, IRD Engineering will be required to provide a broad range of engineering design services (ranging from topographical or geotechnical surveys, to structural engineering services, to architectural services, and up to site supervision), all in support of various building and infrastructure projects, such as rural roads, airstrips, or water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects.
