The process towards the construction of the new Oderzo branch of the “Antonio Scarpa” Upper Secondary Institute of Motta di Livenza is progressing. This strategic project is promoted by the Province of Treviso in cooperation with the Municipality of Oderzo, with the support of the Italian State Property Agency – Design Structure.

The project stems from the need to identify a stable and long-term solution following the structural issues that rendered the previous school building unusable, thereby ensuring continuity and quality in the educational offer. The new facility will host the humanities-oriented programmes of the Institute – Classical High School, Human Sciences High School and Language High School – responding to a well-established and growing educational demand in the area.

The intervention involves the construction of a new school building on Via G. Pezzulo, within an urban area already dedicated to educational and sports functions, well connected to local mobility networks, public transport and cycle paths. This location strengthens an integrated school hub, avoids additional land consumption and enhances existing infrastructure.

The project places the quality of the school environment at its core: seismic safety, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability are fundamental design principles. Spaces will be flexible and functional, featuring innovative teaching environments, specialised laboratories, collective spaces and a regulation-size gymnasium, also designed for extracurricular use in service of the local community.

The building, developed in a compact form over three above-ground levels, optimises land use and simplifies long-term management and maintenance. Particular attention is given to technological solutions aimed at reducing energy consumption, ensuring material durability and enabling efficient energy management, in line with near-zero energy building principles.

Outdoor spaces are also conceived as an integral part of the educational experience, with green areas, pedestrian paths and social spaces. The project represents a strategic public investment, combining architectural quality, safety, sustainability and openness to the city, and providing Oderzo with a school infrastructure that fully meets contemporary educational needs.
