IRD Engineering, in JV with GP Ingeneria, has just launched the implementation of the preliminary design of the Qajaran-Agarak section of the North-South Road Corridor Investment Program Tranche 4. The contract also includes the detailed design and all environmental and social safeguards procedures for this 45 km-long road section, including a 4.5 km-long tunnel.
The kick off meeting in Yerevan received significant press coverage. The design team met with representatives of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure “Transport Implementation Organization” SNCO and with the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) to present the first outcomes of the design process and to discuss refinements in the road section and its alignment, all aimed at optimizing the performance of the road in terms of design speed, safety, construction costs, environmental and social impact, and investment return.
