Supervision of Water and Wastewater Infrastructure – Municipality of Kolašin

IRD Engineering, in joint venture with HYDROPHIL GmbH as lead partner, has been contracted to supervise major upgrades to the water and wastewater systems of the Municipality of Kolašin. Part of a national programme covering 63 environmental infrastructure investments, the project supports Montenegro’s EU accession efforts and aims to improve service quality, environmental protection, and long-term sustainability.

Project Scope

The assignment covers supervision of all works related to:

• Construction of a new Wastewater Treatment Plant, designed to meet EU environmental standards;
• Development of approximately 23 km of new sewerage network, improving collection efficiency and reducing pollution;
• Implementation of priority water supply measures, enhancing the reliability and safety of drinking water services.

Located in Montenegro’s northern region at over 900 m above sea level, Kolašin is an important cultural and tourism centre. The new infrastructure will support both residents and the growing number of visitors, contributing to the community’s socio-economic development and environmental resilience.

Scope of Services

Within the JV, IRD provides construction supervision services by ensuring contractual and technical compliance, monitoring work quality, safety and environmental standards, verifying materials, equipment and contractor performance, and supporting the Employer through continuous progress reporting and coordination during project implementation.
