Supervision of Refurbishment Works on the Mitrovica Bridge

The project involves the refurbishment of the bridge connecting the municipalities of South Mitrovica and North Mitrovica, a key structure of both infrastructural and social importance. The works, with an estimated value of approximately EUR 1 million, aim to improve connectivity and contribute to balanced regional development by enhancing municipal infrastructure, quality of life, and local economic potential.

IRD Engineering was engaged to supervise the full implementation of the works, covering construction, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and the defect liability period. The assignment ensured continuous on-site presence and full compliance with technical specifications, contractual requirements, budget, and timeline, in close coordination with the European Union Office and the project Beneficiary.

The project was implemented in accordance with PRAG procedures, ensuring high standards of quality, transparency, and accountability throughout all phases.

IRD Engineering’s responsibilities include:

• Acting as Designated Supervisor on behalf of the Contracting Authority
• Coordination between the Works Contractor, Contracting Authority, and Beneficiary
• Review and approval of design and contractor documentation in line with PRAG procedures
• Monitoring construction progress, quality of works, and compliance with technical specifications
• Verification of certificates, invoices, variations, and claims
• Issuance of Interim Payment Certificates and Provisional Acceptance Certificates
• Monitoring environmental compliance and construction practices
• Identification and mitigation of risks, delays, and contractual issues
• Providing technical advice and support to the Contracting Authority
