Structural Bridge Assessment for Autostrade per l’Italia, Lots 1 and 2

IRD Engineering signed a new Framework Contract in Italy, aimed at the provision of technical assistance for the structural performance assessment of more than 250 long bridges, out of the about 1,300 laying on the motorway network managed by the Italian concessionaire Autostrade per l’Italia (ASPI) in northern and central Italy (Lot 1 and Lot 2 respectively).

The contract is part of ASPI’s general efforts to effectively implement a 2.5 billion euro extraordinary maintenance program that should be executed within 2024.

The assignment envisages the analysis of all the existing documentation, the planning of all needed investigations and tests, and finally the accurate verification of each bridge structural performance (so-called “VAL4”), supported by calibrated and validated finite elements structural models, based on the updated information coming from the results of the investigations and carried out in accordance with current Italian norms and specific guidelines.

Autostrade per l’Italia is one of Europe’s leading concessionaires for the construction and management of toll motorways, with around 3,000 km of network managed in Italy.
