Preparation of Design for the ‘Upgrade, Construction of a Second Track and Construction of a New Double-track Line on Sub-sections of the Railway Line Section Hrvatski Leskovac – Karlovac’

The overall objective of the project was the preparation of all project documentation necessary for undertaking the rehabilitation of the Hrvatski Leskovac – Karlovac section (approx. length 50 km).

This operation contributes to the overall IPA Transport Operational Programme’s objective set in the Priority Axis 1 – “Upgrading Croatia’s rail transport system” and overall development of railway network in Croatia, specifically the lines on the Pan-European Corridor V in order to meet required EU standards (in terms of track lengths and layout, signaling and telecommunication equipment) and to implement the EU transport acquis for railway system.

The purpose of this project preparation was to provide the preliminary design, feasibility study with cost-benefit analysis and financial and economic analysis, revision of EIA study, location permit, draft project application, main design, construction permit and tender documents in accordance with the requirement of the EU and national legislation in order to propose the project for EU co-financing under the next Transportation Operational Programme.

The assignment was divided in 3 main tasks:

• Task 1: Preliminary design and location permit obtained for: construction of new double-track railway line/second track on the railway line section Hrvatski Leskovac (incl.) – Karlovac (incl.);
• Task 2: Main design and construction permit obtained for construction of new double-track railway line/second track on the railway line section Hrvatski Leskovac (incl.) – Karlovac (incl.);
• Task 3: Feasibility study, Cost benefit analysis, Environmental impact report, draft Major project application and draft Tender Dossiers.
