Design and Bidding Documents for Road Safety Improvements Following EuroRAP Recommendations of Sections of M12 Road

The design was considered necessary due to the unsatisfactory condition of road pavement, the increase of traffic, the poor condition of road safety (lack of access for cyclists and pedestrians in villages/communities, absence of transitional speed lanes at junctions, poor condition of pedestrian crossings), and the change of regulatory framework.

The project was part of World Bank’s investment plan for the development of safer road corridors.

The final output was the full Tender documentation under FIDIC Contract Conditions in accordance with Standard Tender Documents for procurement of works under World Bank’s loans. These considered the use of advanced technologies, new materials, road barriers made of metal strips with effective corrosion protection, and road marking using long lasting materials and polymers.
