Following the successful delivery of the full multidisciplinary Technical Project Documentation for the Temporary Storage Facility for Collected SALW in Albania, IRD Engineering is proud to announce the award of the second phase of the project, the monitoring and supervision services for the construction of the facility.

This new contract is financed by the U.S. Department of State and implemented through ITF Enhancing Human Security, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of the State Police of Albania.

Under this new engagement, IRD Engineering will provide:

  • Technical supervision of works throughout the construction period;
  • Independent monitoring and reporting on progress, risks, and compliance;
  • Quality assurance and verification of materials, installations, and workmanship;
  • Environmental and H&S compliance oversight;
  • Support during testing, commissioning, and final handover;
  • Support during tender evaluation as the original design author.

This award reflects the trust placed in IRD Engineering’s long-standing expertise in Albania and our proven capability to deliver complex, security-related infrastructure projects in full compliance with national regulations and international donor standards.

In December 2025, IRD Engineering completed the entire design package for the facility, including:

  • Architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, hydrotechnical, and fire-safety designs;
  • Environmental impact assessment;
  • Detailed BoQ, cost estimates, and technical specifications;
  • Full Construction Permit documentation;
  • Independent technical review and permitting follow-up.

With the design phase successfully concluded and the monitoring and supervision phase now underway, the project moves confidently toward implementation, strengthening Albania’s national capacities for safe and compliant SALW management.

A dedicated team of international and local engineers from IRD Engineering will continue to support the project throughout its full lifecycle, ensuring technical excellence, full regulatory compliance, transparent reporting, alignment with donor expectations, and a safe and secure implementation.
