We are proud to announce that IRD Engineering will participate in the implementation of a new European Union funded assignment in Uzbekistan, supporting the preparation of the environmental, social, climate resilience and road safety studies for the rehabilitation and construction of a strategic section of the A-380 Highway around Nukus, a key link of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor (TCTC).
IRD Engineering will act as the implementing partner within the framework contract consortium led by SUEZ, contributing to the delivery of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Resettlement Action Plan (RAP), Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP), Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA), Road Safety Impact Assessment (RSIA) and Road Safety Audit (RSA) required for the project’s appraisal by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
The project concerns a 41 km section of the A-380 Highway around Nukus, including the reconstruction and widening of existing road infrastructure, the construction of a new bypass, bridges, interchanges and local traffic facilities.
The investment will contribute to improving regional connectivity, reducing environmental and social impacts, enhancing road safety and strengthening one of Central Asia’s most important transport corridors.
This assignment is particularly significant for IRD Engineering as it further consolidates our long-term commitment to Uzbekistan, where we maintain a permanent office and currently have several major contracts under implementation. Over the years, we have built extensive experience supporting transport infrastructure projects throughout the country, combining strong local knowledge with international best practices and the requirements of leading financial institutions.
At IRD Engineering, we provide technical assistance to build, improve and maximize capacities in infrastructure planning, procurement, development, operation and maintenance.
Our teams strive to strengthen skills, resources, institutions and legal frameworks while maximizing knowledge transfer in every assignment, creating lasting economic and social benefits through improved infrastructure.
Our services support multi-sector institutional development, including the modernization and harmonization of public infrastructure agencies and corporations, the design and delivery of capacity-building programmes, and specialized training in procurement according to international financial institutions’ standards, infrastructure upgrading and rehabilitation, construction supervision, contract management and long-term asset maintenance.
We would like to thank the European Union Delegation to Uzbekistan, SUEZ Consulting, our local partners and subcontractors, and all project stakeholders for their confidence in our team. We look forward to working together to deliver a project that promotes sustainable mobility, climate resilience, safer roads and stronger regional connectivity across Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
