Investing in the next generation of engineering professionals is vital for the sustainable development of Armenia’s infrastructure sector. Through a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia (NUACA), and IRD Engineering, students are given a unique opportunity to complement their academic education with valuable hands-on experience in the field.
As part of this partnership, a group of NUACA students participated in a practical training visit to the North–South Road Corridor Investment Program (NSRIP), Tranche 4 project site from 29 June to 3 July 2026.
The training program was designed to provide students with direct exposure to one of Armenia’s most significant transport infrastructure investments: the Reconstruction of approximately 21 km of road from Agarak to Vardanidzor and the Construction of approximately 11 km of road from Vardanidzor to the Tunnel Exit.
During the site visit, students gained first-hand insight into key aspects of project delivery, including planning, design, construction methods, quality assurance, health and safety practices, and overall project management.
A particularly valuable component of the program was the opportunity for students to engage directly with experienced project managers, engineers, contractors, and representatives of the Ministry and other public institutions.
These interactions provided a deeper understanding of the practical realities of infrastructure development, including stakeholder coordination, technical decision-making, project implementation challenges, and the complexities involved in delivering large-scale engineering works.
This initiative demonstrates the Ministry’s strong commitment to supporting the development of highly qualified engineering professionals while strengthening the connection between higher education and the infrastructure sector. It also highlights NUACA’s important role in preparing students for successful careers by combining academic excellence with practical industry experience.
Strong partnerships between government institutions, academia, and the engineering industry are essential for building the skills, knowledge, and leadership required to deliver the infrastructure projects of tomorrow.
IRD Engineering is honored to be part of this collaborative effort and looks forward to supporting similar educational and capacity-building initiatives in the years ahead.
