On 29 May 2025, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Beknazar Bazaraliev, signed a contract with IRD Engineering for the reconstruction of the Barskoon–Karakol road section.

This is the third contract awarded to IRD Engineering in the Kyrgyz Republic, and we are very pleased to continue contributing to the country’s infrastructure development.

The project is part of the Issyk-Kul Ring Road Improvement Project and covers a 75 km stretch from km 141 to km 216. It is financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Planned improvements include:

  • Widening the road from two to four lanes with a central median
  • Construction of sidewalks, bus stops, and underground pedestrian crossings
  • Installation of street lighting, bridge reconstruction, and stormwater drainage systems

Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2025.

ADB financing:

  • $87 million – concessional loan (32-year term)
  • $22.5 million – grant

Total: $109.5 million
