On May 15, 2025, IRD Engineering S.A., acting as the consultant for the construction of the A1 Pitești–Sibiu Highway, Section 2 Boița–Cornetu, had the honor of hosting a group of students from the Faculty of Military Management at the “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy in Sibiu.

The visit took place as part of a project co-financed by the European Social Fund – “PCCC – A Functional System of Internships for Students in the Field of Construction and Transport Infrastructure” (ID 133296) – and was organized by the Professional Association of Roads and Bridges – Bucharest Branch.

Accompanied by academic staff, the students had the opportunity to visit key points of the site, including:

  • The Boița Viaduct (700 meters long), at various stages of construction;
  • The Tălmăcel Viaduct, in the foundation works phase;
  • The Câineni site office, where significant execution and design details for the approximately 31 km section were presented;
  • The precast plant in Sibiu, an essential part of the project’s logistics.

During the visit, participants attended technical presentations delivered by representatives of the Contractor (Mapa-Cengiz A.S. Joint Venture) and the Consultant (IRD Engineering S.A.), gaining valuable practical insights that complement their academic training.

The event also included a health and safety briefing and the proper distribution of protective equipment, in full compliance with the standards applicable to large-scale infrastructure worksites.

This visit highlights IRD Engineering S.A.’s commitment to supporting the professional development of future specialists in construction and infrastructure through active collaboration with higher education institutions, both technical and military.
