Technical Assistance and Supervision Services on Construction of the Motorway Section Mostar North – Mostar South

The Mostar North – Mostar South section forms part of LOT 4 of Corridor Vc, a key international transport route passing through Bosnia and Herzegovina. The 14.2 km section extends from the Mostar North interchange, connecting to the M17 main road near the settlements of Kutilivac and Vrapčići, to the Mostar South interchange near Mostar Airport, forming part of the subsection Mostar South – Tunnel Kvanj.

The project also includes a 2.34 km connecting road linking the motorway to the M17 corridor, designed as a two-lane road serving the surrounding area, including the industrial zone “Gajevi.” The alignment has been optimized in certain areas, including near the settlement of Suhi Do, where the route is shifted to minimize impacts on residential zones.

A significant portion of the section—approximately 52%—consists of complex engineering structures, including five tunnels with a total length of 5.87 km (the longest being 2.37 km) and ten bridges totaling approximately 1.56 km (the longest approximately 490 m). The combined length of tunnels and bridges reaches 7.43 km, highlighting the technical complexity of the project.

The project is implemented in accordance with the laws of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and under the FIDIC Red Book (1999 Edition) conditions.

IRD Engineering’s responsibilities include:

• Acting as the Engineer under the FIDIC contract
• Supervision of construction works and contract administration
• Review and approval of the Contractor’s designs, method statements, technologies, and materials
• Monitoring construction progress and ensuring compliance with technical specifications
• Implementation and monitoring of environmental and social requirements
• Coordination during procurement, pre-construction, and execution phases
• Risk management and quality control
• Preparation of progress reports and compliance documentation
• Technical assistance throughout project implementation
