Project verification is an activity foreseen by the Italian Law on Public Procurement with the objective to reduce risks of variations or claims during the implementation of public works, and, in this context, IRD Engineering have recently been granted the ISO/IEC 17020:2012 accreditation, which will allow the company to act as an Inspection Body for validation purposes during the design of any kind of infrastructure works.
To make it possible, over the last months the company has set up an independent Project Verification Unit as an Inspection Body (type C), to provide its clients, as well as other departments within the company, with verification services aimed at validating any kind of project in compliance with UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17020 “Conformity Assessment – Requirements for the Functioning of Various Types of Bodies that Carry Out Inspections” and with the Accredia Technical Regulation RT 07 “Requirements for the Accreditation of Type A, B and C Inspection Bodies Pursuant to the UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17020 Standard in the Construction Sector”.
The activities that IRD Engineering can therefore carry out involve verifying the consistency of the project documents and their compliance with any current legislation, through the following control aspects:
- reliability;
- completeness and adequacy;
- legibility, coherence and repeatability;
- compatibility;
- and support to the PIU during adversarial procedure with the designer.
