Construction Supervision Consultants for the Improvement of the Sylhet – Tamabil Road into a Four-Lane Highway

The overall objective of the project, financed by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), is to improve intercity connectivity in Bangladesh and cross-border connectivity between Bangladesh and India, by upgrading the Bangladeshi National Highway N2 between Sylhet City to the Tamabil border point, from a two-lane single carriageway to a four-lane dual carriageway highway.

The 56 kilometers-long Sylhet-Tamabil highway is part of the Asian Highway-1 which links India’s Meghalaya and West Bengal through Tamabil – Sylhet – Kanchpur – Dhaka – Jashore – Benapole. This corridor is strategically important for sub-regional connectivity with the northeastern states of India, as well as with Bhutan, Myanmar, and China.

A team from IRD Engineering enures high standard of works by establishing a quality assurance plan, and will provide comprehensive supervision of all project works to be carried out by the contractors, to ensure complete compliance with the project drawings, designs, technical specifications and other stipulations set out in the contract documents.

Works are organised in 4 lots and the construction contracts, which will last for 48 months, are to be governed by FIDIC MDB Harmonized Conditions of Contracts.
