North – South Corridor Investment Program: Construction Supervision of Tranche 3 (Talin – Lanjik Road Section) and Feasibility Study, Preliminary Design and Detailed Design of Tranche 4

The “North-South Road Corridor Investment Programme” is a major infrastructure project in Armenia which aims at connecting the Southern border of the Country with the Northern one through the 556 km-long Meghri – Yerevan – Bavra highway. The completion of this highly important strategic road will provide easier flow of traffic from the Southern part of Armenia to the Georgian border and up to Black Sea ports.

The North-South Road Corridor Project is divided into 5 Tranches. Tranche 3 consists of  two road sections, the first, Talin – Lanjik (km 71+500 – km 90+200, length 18.7 km) and the second Lanjik – Gyumri (km 90+200 – km 117+670 length 27.47 km). Tranche 4 corresponds to the southern part of the corridor, from Artashat to the border with the Islamic Republic of Iran, with a length of 360 km.

The specific objective of this service contract was to support the Transport Project Implementation Organization in the implementation of the Tranches 3 and 4 of the North-South Corridor Project, by the provision of the following services:

  • Supervision under FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Construction, MDB Harmonized Edition, of the civil works on widening and improving the road between Talin and Lanjik (Tranche 3). Upgrade into a 4-lane Category 1 highway.
  • Preparation of the feasibility study and preliminary design for the southern section of the N-S Road Corridor (Tranche 4) of a total length of 303 Km (from km28+912 – to km333+000);
  • Preparation of the Detailed Design for a section of 60 km;
  • Preparation of a complete package of Asian Development Bank’s standard bidding documents for the construction of the designed section.
