Supervision of Rehabilitation Works Including Environmental and Social Safeguard Monitoring on Sections under the Road Rehabilitation and Safety Program

The European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the World Bank (WB) approved three loan agreements totaling EUR 274 million and aimed at supporting the rehabilitation and safety improvement of about 1,100 km of roads across the Serbian national road network. The joint facility was named Road Rehabilitation and Safety Program (RRSP). This Project is expected to promote regional and national economic growth, facilitate trade, support private sector development, and ultimately contribute to economic and social cohesion in the country.

The assignment consisted on the Consulting Services for Supervision and Rehabilitation Works including environmental and social safeguard monitoring on RS/WB/EIB Sections under RRSP cover 31 sections all over the territory of Republic of Serbia in total length of 670km of IIA and IB roads category.

During the works execution, contract conditions for preparation of SBD for Procurement of Small Works (the World Bank), a simplified form of FIDIC Conditions of Contract, were applied.

The main objective of the Project was to assist “Roads of Serbia” to successfully implement RRSP project through the provision of high expertise and effective contract management, with special attention to environmental and safeguard monitoring with regards to the works and mitigation of the observed negative impact.
