New Motorway Section between Demir Kapija and Smokvica, Corridor X

A stated objective of the IPA Operational Programme for "Regional Development" (2007 – 2009) is the construction of the new motorway section between Demir Kapija and Smokvica in order to complete Corridor X to motorway standard over its full length between Skopje and Bogorodica on the border with Greece. The completion of Corridor X also forms part of the European Union's Trans-European Transport network (TEN-T) policy.
The highway will run parallel to the Vardar River, the longest river in Macedonia, and adjacent to the Demir Kapija Gorge which is an area of national and international environmental importance.
Three of the total six bridges shall be constructed as a pre stressed reinforced concrete system with long beams and high columns. The remaining three bridges shall be constructed on a cantilever bridge system.

The Consultant shall be the Supervisor/Engineer, in accordance to the FIDIC Red book and shall assist the Contracting Authority/Employer in solving the administrative and technical issues of the Project.
