IRD Engineering is studying the introduction of Performance-Based Contracts for Road Maintenance in Tunisia

IRD Engineering is the leading partner in the JV which is carrying out the Technical Assistane to the Tunisian Road Agency (Direction Générale des Ponts et Chaussées) for the introduction of Output and Performance-based Road Maintenance Contracts in Tunisia.

The project is financed by World Bank, through the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and is aimed at developing a feasibility study for the introduction of OPRMC Contracts for the maintenance of the Tunisian Road Network. The Study will take into account actual market conditions and the actual maintenance arrangments of the Agency and will lead to the preparation of a Typical Contract to tender the performance-based maintenance of at least 4 pilos road sections.

In the framework of the project, which foresee also capacity building and on-the-job training activities for DGPC staff, a delegation has visited the "Delegación Territorial de Fomento y Vivienda" in the Spanish Province of Granada, to study and understang the model used to manage the road maintenance activities, as also reported by the local portal IDEAL.
